Hi there! My name is Melissa. Welcome to my blog, Cook Slow, Run Fast.
Today, I’m a half marathon runner who loves sharing my passion for food and cooking with others, as well as hitting the gym after a long day.
Not so long ago, I couldn’t run a single mile without stopping and feared eating in front of other people because of body image issues.
Beginning to run and learning how to nourish my body with good food and exercise has taught me how to be more patient, deal with fear, and practice self-love, and it’s made me happier and more confident than ever before.
Cook Slow, Run Fast is where I share my growth and struggles as a runner, as well as my love for food. Eight years ago I discovered that I have a gluten intolerance, putting the kibosh on my fast food binge eating tendencies, and pushing me to explore the world of gluten-free cooking.
I quickly became fascinated by nutrition and food systems, and discovered the unparalleled joy of experimenting in the kitchen and making healthy food that tastes delicious.
When I’m not running, working out, cooking, or eating, I’m probably out exploring new places or planning a future getaway. Orrrrr curled up on the couch with my adorable cat and a cup of black coffee.
Yours in happy, healthy eating, running & living,
Melissa
I too have recently discovered an appreciation for running! I ran my 2nd half this past weekend. Good luck with your training!
